Email Setup

Email Setup Information

In your email client, the following settings are used.  Scroll down for examples of a Microsoft Outlook setup:

 POP3 Server:  mail.yourdomain.com

 SMTP Server:  mail.yourdomain.com

 Account/Login: yourname@yourdomain.com

Password: Check with your domain administrator who set up your
email account if you need a password reset.

Outgoing (SMTP) Server Authentication:  SMTP Server
Authentication is required.  Check appropriate settings in your mail
software and ensure it is turned on.  Username and Password are the
same as your incoming email account.

NOTE: be sure to replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain
 name.

OUTLOOK USERS: First, go to "Tools" then "Email Accounts" (some older versions require "Toos" then "Options" then "Mail Setup" then "Email Accounts".  You can add a new account if you want to keep your existing accounts, or, you can change your existing account to match the following settings if you no longer want to use your existing account.

You will select POP3 type email account on the next screen:

EMAIL ACCOUNT SETTINGS:  Be sure to fill in all the fields as shown below.  You will need to change the default "user name" that outlook automatically fills in to be your full email address.  (Your user name here and on all email related screens is your full email address.)

After filling in the fields here, click the "MORE SETTINGS" button, then the "OUTGOING SERVER" tab to set up your outgoing mail server settings.

OUTGOING SERVER: Click the checkbox next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.  Make sure the radio button beside "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.

NOTE:  Some Internet Service Providers BLOCK SMTP traffic from entering their network.  In this case, you will need to fill in the "Log on using" fields and input your ISP's username and password.  This is somewhat uncommon, but known ISP's that prohibit SMTP traffic are: Earthlink, Comcast, some AOL areas, and others.
